How does it work

The Autowatch Ghost 2 Immobiliser communicates with the vehicles ECU (Engine Control Unit) on the CAN Data circuit Connecting to your vehicle without using radio frequencies or a key fob, the Ghost immobiliser is completely undetectable. The Ghost uses the existing buttons in your vehicle such as those on the steering wheel, door panels or centre console, to allow you to make a unique, changeable, PIN code sequence, up to 20 digits long, which must first be entered before you can drive your car. Without the unique code the Autowatch Ghost 2 Immobiliser will prevent the engine starting. Also the device has a Service/Valet Mode allowing your vehicle to temporarily start and drive without requiring the PIN code. The Ghost will exit service mode based on speed and time or by simply entering the PIN code, meaning that this security code is never compromised, even when the car is undergoing its MOT or being professionally valeted.

In recent years thieves have been able to override vehicle security systems by hacking the OBD port. The Autowatch Ghost Immobiliser is undetectable using diagnostics and there are no radio signals. The Ghost communicates with the vehicles ECU (Engine Control Unit) on the CAN Data circuit, it is totally silent so it does not give away its location. A thief cannot now simply add a new key or replace the ECU to steal your vehicle as only the correct data inputted will allow your vehicle to start.

Essentially, this is chip and pin for your vehicle, with the option to set a code depending on your preference, plus a secure emergency code is provided in the event of you forgetting the code and needing to reset it.

Engine Start Blocking

The Ghost will prevent the starting of the engine unless the unique, user defined PIN code has been entered first.

No Radio Frequency Signals

Thieves cannot use sophisticated RF scanning, code grabbing technology to detect what security device your vehicle has when it does not transmit any signals like conventional security systems.

Stops Key Cloning + ECU Swap

A thief cannot simply add a new key or replace an ECU to bypass the Ghost and start the vehicle. Only a correct PIN code will allow the engine to start.

Undetectable Using Diagnostics

A modern thief can use diagnostics to detect circuit cuts on modern vehicles. The Ghost has no circuit cuts so it cannot be found using these methods.

Silent, no relay operation

Because the unit communicates with the ECU on the data bus to immobilise the vehicle there is no way a thief could listen for the tell-tale clicking of a traditional immobiliser relay.

Tested for each vehicle

Due to the nature of the data bus communication the Ghost has been adapted and tested for every vehicle we list as compatible. If we list your vehicle you can be sure we have thoroughly tested its operation with the Ghost.
