Insurance Approved / Thatcham Approved - Vehicle Trackers

Due to a combination of thieves up their game every year to keep up with the latest advancements, escalating vehicle theft and the very impressive recovery success rate of Thatcham approved trackers, insurance providers are now, even though you may not have ever been asked to in the past, often insisting that you install these particular tracking devices.

What does “Thatcham Approved” mean?

Thatcham Research is an industry accredited non-profit organisation which define and test aftermarket vehicle security units. To receive a receive a Thatcham Security Certification the Tracker will have gone through a stringent and rigorous testing process to assess the effectiveness of the security and safety of the products.

What is an S7 Tracker?

It is an entry-level tracker which is the most common Insurance / Thatcham Approved Vehicle Tracker.

It does not stop the car from being stolen but does track the vehicle’s location 24/7 and this can be viewed by yourself on an App and the monitoring station who monitor the vehicle for you.

Whilst S7 Trackers do not meet the criteria for S5 Trackers, they still provide a good level of security and increases the chances of your vehicle being recovered if stolen.

As of January 2019, Thatcham Category 6 trackers have been replaced with Thatcham Category S7 Trackers.

What is an S5 Tracker?

In addition to all the benefits of the S7 Tracker a requirement of the S5 Thatcham criteria is that the device must be accompanied by a system which is used to verify the driver of the vehicle is an authorised user known as driver recognition this can be in the form of either the D-iD smartphone app or a physical DRST – Driver Recognition Tags card.

If the vehicle is started and without the Driver Recognition Tags being present this would indicate that it is being driven by an authorised person so the monitoring centre will make immediate contact with you via all the contact details they have.

What is an S5 PLUS Tracker?

An S5 PLUS Tracker has all the same features as the standard S5 Tracker category but with the additional security of automatic immobilisation. This means that a person without a Driver ID tag will will not be able to start the vehicle. With Relay or Key Cloning theft on the rise, the S5 PLUS offers even more safety for your vehicle, and gives you peace of mind.

Using the Quartix business vehicle tracking system you can track your vehicles in real-time, anytime, using any internet-connected device. There is no need for proprietary software or maps - everything is accessed over the web. Alarms

Autowatch 695 CAN

The Autowatch 695CAN alarm is a Thatcham approved CAT 2-1upgrade alarm system, designed to be used on full CAN Bus, semi CAN Bus or conventional wiring systems. The 695CAN alarm can be fitted to any compatible new vehicle that requires an alarm.

This system is designed to be easily operated from the vehicles original remote controls without the use of an additional remote control. However, if your vehicle has only one remote control supplied as standard, adding an additional Autowatch remote control will prove more cost effective than buying an original remote control.

The Autowatch 695 CAN alarm is the ideal system for new Motorhomes, with the added benefit of incorporating 2 zone wireless sensors for internal protection and for external load compartments. Internal sensors can be isolated at night so that you can move about with the alarm armed. This alarm can use a combination of up to 6 wireless PIRs. PIR's are small wireless sensors which can be fitted to locker doors on a motorhome which will sound the alarm if a door is opened.

Parking Sensors

Parking sensors can be fitted to the front or rear of the vehicle

Colour coding the sensors is available to match the existing vehicles paintwork.

The parking sensor system is available with an audible alarm or a visual monitor to alert the driver of any object they are close to.

Virtus Fleet - Titan 1 and 2 Forward facing Dash Camera

The Titan 1 and 2 are tamper-proof, forward facing black box recorders with a 165° Full HD 1080P lens, 3 axis g-sensor, built in GPS, and can run on 12 and 24 volt vehicles. They can support up to a 128Gb micro SD card where event footage can be saved for an extended period of time. The Titan 2 has the ability to add an extra camera, ie internal or rear facing.
